This is a wonderful bar which happens to have live music that is just perfect for dancing, on Sunday nights in downtown San Francisco.

I suggest getting there around 9 p.m. and enjoying the great music and space to dance, before it gets too crowded. (By 11 p.m., the place fills up with the regular bar crowd, leaving less room to dance). Also, since it's a bar, rather than a dance venue per se, be sure to contact other dancers and get them to go, so you'll have folks to dance with! You don't want to torture yourself, listening to such great music and seeing all that empty space for dancing, and not having anyone to dance with! So BYO dancers!

Here is more info on this Sunday night event, from swig-bar.com:

Ed Ivey Blues Jam

When the venerable old Blue Lamp Lounge at 561 Geary closed more than a year ago, San Francisco's longest-running blues jam session went dark, leaving blues players and fans with no professional-level blues jam in downtown San Francisco. Tracing it's roots back to the 1940s, the session was an important weekly hang for local musicians for generations; Ed Ivey has been hosting the jam for the last seven years and saw a lot of wonderful interaction between local players that led to new groups, new gigs, etc. Happily, a new club has opened in the same space just this month, now called Swig, and the city's best blues jam is back in business. Never a cover, there's no sign-up sheet and all players are welcome.

JAM SESSION INFO: Ed Ivey's Blues Jam, every Sunday night from 9pm-close at Swig.
