Submit Venue or Event Info

I noticed a lot of old, dead links in the previous version of this site, so now that we’re brand spanking new, it’s time for a new resource area.

I’ll be compiling information on new and existing venues, so if you know of one, or run one, feel free to send in info via the Contact page.

As I slowly build back up the site and dig through the archives, I will expand the site.

Thanks!

  1. For Dancers Only is the South Bay venue for Lindy/Balboa/Shag/Blues addicts.

The first half hour of every night is “Lindy Lab”: an open and collaborative dance environment for you to practice your solo footwork, work with a partner on moves from class, or experiment and create new combinations.

Social dancing is from 8:30 to midnight (or later). FDO DJs have eclectic tastes- there will be music for you to Lindy, Charleston, Balboa, Shag and Blues dance; there might even be a soul train. Also, “What was that song?” Follow us on Twitter (@FDO_SB) to find out!

For Dancers Only is supported by the City of Sunnyvale Community Services Division.

  3. Saturday February 4 Yoshi’s , 730 Dance Lesson 8pm Showtime

Join us for a special concert of elegant music by our hero, American master Duke Ellington. The show will feature our expanded 6-horn “little big band” performing classic vocal and instrumental arrangements transcribed by noted Ellington expert David Berger. This is both a concert and a dance, including a swing dance lesson with Nathan Dias at 7:30pm.

  4. I’ve got a 6 piece horn band called Horns a Plenty that I’m trying to turn into a dance band. We’re 5 brass players and a drummer. All acoustic. Several years ago we started out as a brass quintet, but over time have morphed into playing mostly swing and jazz tunes. The guys are all big band veterans. We recently added a drummer and it seems to me like we have something people could dance to.

We’re booked into playing at Alameda’s High Street Station (1303 HIGH STREET. ALAMEDA) on September 22nd, and I’m billing this thing as a dance event. What I’m really looking for is some feedback on what we’re doing and what tunes are and are not good to dance to. It would be great if a few folks from your interest group were to come, listen and dance a bit to what we’re doing and give me some feedback.

    Thanks,

    Russ
